FLOW AND GROW YOGA FOR KIDS
Flow and Grow Yoga is designed to physically, mentally, and spiritually introduce your child to the wonderful world of yoga. Your child will join Miss Kim, a certified yoga instructor and Young Fives teacher at JCUMC, for an instructive, rejuvenating, and FUN yoga practice through this unique enrichment class.
Breathing Techniques (Pranas): Promotes proper breathing practices and self-regulation tools. Learn to use breath to calm and/or energize the body.
Yoga Poses (Asanas) & Concentration: Develops cognitive skills and language development. Enhances body awareness, balance, flexibility, and coordination. Children will learn to follow directions, increase fine motor strength (an imperative skill for handwriting), and develop/refine crossing the midline (a critical child developmental skill).
Games & Partner Practice: Have fun doing yoga! Encourages socialization and enables development of friendships.
Balance Pose of the Day: Body awareness is practiced and developed, along with coordination, balance, and concentration.
Gratitude & Affirmations: Develops positive mental health habits including higher self-esteem, plus compassion toward and awareness of others.
Yoga Mat for At-Home Practice: Your child will keep their yoga mat at the end of the semester so that they can practice what they’ve learned at home!
