One student. One mentor. One hour a week.

Johns Creek UMC is excited about our partnership with Kids Hope USA and Shakerag Elementary. Kids Hope USA partners churches with local schools to establish relationships through mentoring. Mentors are screened and trained. They are asked to meet with one student, one hour a week, for one school year. Each mentor/student pair has a Prayer Partner who is trained and whose main role is to support and encourage the mentoring relationship through prayer.

Mission Statement:
To serve as the hands and feet of Christ in the world.  Matthew 25.34-40

Purpose Statement:
To enable, encourage and "equip the saints" so that every member of the congregation is in ministry.  One can pray, give, and/or volunteer in our mission ministries.

Below you will see the "Missions of the Month" which are long standing missions and outreach of Johns Creek UMC.  These ministries form just the framework of the church's mission ministries and are designed for general participation by the "congregation."  But this does not include everything going on.  There are other ministries and programs being done by small groups and individuals within the church.  If you know of one then please let me know as I am building a data base.  Or if you are interested in some ministry then please let me know.  Our purpose is to realize every member in mission.

Yearly Opportunities to Serve

Toilet Paper and Laundry Detergent Drive

Throughout the month of February, the Small Miracle UMW group is hosting a toilet paper and laundry detergent drive for Neighborhood Cooperative Ministries. You can drop your donations off at any time by placing them in the labelled bins found under the Church Office portico and the portico at the Sanctuary.

Saturdays February 6 and 20

School Break Bags

From now until Easter, oyou can provide providing breakfast and lunch for food-insecure schoolchildren.  Pick up School Break Bags from the church and fill it with the list of non-perishable foods provided by Meals by Grace. Each bag you fill goes to child who needs a little help getting nutritious meals when they're not in school. The more bags you fill, the more children you feed!

Trinity Table Lunches

JCUMC will be handing out lunches at the Trinity Table Soup Kitchen on Sunday, May 9th!

Help make the day a success by donating supplies!! As you can imagine, the needs are different due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Trinity is handing out ONLY "to-go" lunches and we need 400 rather than the typical 200.

All donations should be dropped off at the church by Saturday, April 24th. A collection bin will be located outside the church office entrance and you may drop items off anytime during the week. If you have any questions or concerns contact Natalie Spradling (404)786-1595.

Girl Scout Deodorant Drive

Girl Scout Troop 14494 is partnering with The Backpack Project and JCUMC to collect deodorant throughout the month of May to help the homeless population in Georgia.  The Backpack Project distributes backpacks containing many essential items, including deodorant, to homeless people in and around major cities in Georgia.  Please bring in one or more sticks of deodorant in May to donate to Girl Scout Troop 14494's Deodorant Drive.  Bins are located outside the church office and sanctuary entrances.

Rise Against Hunger

Every year, Johns Creek UMC fills the gym with rice, boxes, and volunteers to assemble meal kits with Rise Against Hunger. You can participate by help to raise money to bring the organization to the church and by volunteering with your friends and family to assemble meals from start to finish. It's an experience you won't want to miss. This year Rise Against Hunger is October 24th

Merry Market

During the Christmas Season, Johns Creek UMC works with surrounding churches to provide Christmas presents to local families in need. You can participate by donating money or presents from the registry, and by volunteering to help organize and distribute the presents to the families.

We partner with multiple ministries and organizations throughout the year. Contact one of our pastors to learn how to get involved with these groups.
