How Shall I Serve?
Discover your Spiritual Gifts

Take a Spiritual Gifts Inventory

Spiritual gifts are gifts of God that empower us for service and ministry in his name. Together with our natural talents and the unique circumstances of our lives, spiritual gifts help us make a difference in our church, our workplace, our home, and in our community.

Ministry Matters has a spiritual gifts discovery tool drawn from the small group study Serving from the Heart by Carol Cartmill and Yvonne Gentile. The 85 question assessment takes 10-15 minutes to complete and will help you discover where God may be gifting you for service. The tool also includes descriptions and more resources to learn about your gifts. Knowing your gifts will allow you to view the ministry opportunities at Johns Creek UMC through new eyes.

Once you’ve taken the spiritual gifts inventory, let us know! We’d love to help you connect where your gifts can make a difference. E-mail:

If you enjoy knitting or have always wanted to learn how, join our prayer shawl group! These shawls go out to friends and family in need of prayer due to illness, loss of loved ones, or tragedy. Did you know that, with the help of this group, we were able to send prayer shawls to the church effected by the Sutherland Springs, Texas shooting in November?

This group meets at two different times in order to allow people with different schedules to participate. join us at 1 PM of 6 PM on every second Wednesday of the month (except for June and July)

What is the Communications and Marketing Task Force?
The Communications and Marketing Task Force is a group of volunteers that work with the Johns Creek UMC Communications Department to creatively find ways to support the mission of the church and share it with the congregation and surrounding community.

The goal of this team is to invite our congregation and surrounding neighbors to support and participate in the many opportunities that Johns Creek UMC has to offer. Through their participation, we can achieve the church’s overall goal of making disciples of Jesus Christ.

We are looking for new committee members to help us scale our program! We need more people to take an active role in seasonal tasks. If we are to continue the growth, we need more support. We need more involvement and people for this to work. We have the plan, we have the direction and we have the template. It is not hard work, just takes time. If we divide and concur we can spread these tasks across the committee so that we can scale. It will take the load off few and distribute to many as MANY HANDS MAKE LIGHT WORK!

Examples of needs:

  1. Coordinator, End of season parties.
  2. Coordinator, Communication to Welcoming Committee about joint events.
  3. Coordinator, Kona Ice for gamedays.
  4. Coordinator, JCUMC ministries for joint activities.
  5. Coordinator, Gotta Run Kids church event notification.

Contact George Wilson at We would love to add your talents to our team.

What have we already accomplished?

  1. We have improved organization, communication and the overall health of the program!
  2. We had record enrollment for 2018 Winter Basketball. We also added fanfare to gamedays.
  3. Spring Soccer 2018 registration ended with all coaching spots filled before registration closed and an extremely healthy player enrollment.
