If Not Us… Who?
Johns Creek UMC members donate Christmas presents to children identified by the Norcross Cooperative Ministry. This is an opportunity to aid families right in our own neighborhood!
Your generosity and participation allowed for us to provide a merry Christmas to 610 children! Johns Creek UMC adopted 101 families, accounting for 314 children. In addition, we provided toys to and clothes to 296 additional children through the Norcross Co-Op Christmas Program. We are also grateful to those who drove through snow and freezing temperatures to help us fill the 2 26-foot moving trucks with bags of Christmas presents. Merry Christmas to you and yours, and remember… If not us, who?
THERE ARE A NUMBER OF WAYS YOU CAN PARTICIPATE IN THIS SPECIAL MINISTRY
1. ADOPT A FAMILY
Sign up to buy presents for an entire family. The Adopt a Family process includes several elements:
- We encourage spending approximately $75 per child ($50 for Toys and $25 for clothing).
- The purchase of one bible per family
- Providing a grocery store gift card for $25-50, depending on the size of the family
- Purchasing gifts or gift cards for the parents is an additional option.
You have the option to select how large of a family you wish to shop for. Details on your families’ ages and interests will be sent to you in November via e-mail.
Drop off your gifts on Sunday, December 3rd.
2. TOY STORE DONATIONS
You can donate toys for any age group, gender, or interest to be added to the toy store. To ensure that each child gets 3 toys from the toy store, we ask that you provide toy donations in increments of 3.
Drop off your toys any Sunday, through December 3
3. GIFT CARD DONATIONS
Donate $25 gift cards from various retailers, and we’ll do the shopping for you!
Drop off your cards any Sunday, through November 19
4. VOLUNTEER TO PACK THE PRESENTS
On December 8th and 9th, the Family Life Center will be filled with toys for the Norcross Co Op Ministry Christmas Program that will be distributed to families that are not adopted. We need help, especially on the 9th, to pack up the presents and send them off to the co-op to be distributed to the families. That requires over 200 volunteers to make sure everything is organized correctly and everything makes it onto the truck. This is a great volunteer opportunity for all ages. A Sign Up link is coming soon.
