Getting To Know… Dawn Keller
Administrative Assistant to the Senior & Executive Pastors
It takes a village to run a church, especially one as active as Johns Creek United Methodist Church. The reason it runs so smoothly is because of our dedicated staff, so we wanted to help you get to know them a little better
A Prayer for Dawn
Gracious and providing God. Thank you for Dawn and her dedication to the details when it comes to aiding the Johns Creek UMC staff and congregation. We pray that she never doubts the importance of her work, because she is a valuable part of our overall mission and vision: to invite and nurture.
How long have you been with Johns Creek UMC?
It will be 4 years in December
During that time who all have you worked for and what have your responsibilities been?
Dr. Shelnut, Rev. Tillman, Rev. Edwards, Dr. Jones, Dr. Harris and Dr. Reeb. Currently I am the Admin Asst to Senior Pastor and Executive Pastor; manage the calendar; manage front desk volunteers; manager security badges for large groups and assist with the security system, order name badges; print room signage. In the past, I assisted with Nurture and Invite ministries.
What is the most exciting thing you’ve experienced at JCUMC?
Life at JCUMC includes excitement……But I think the best is when my daughter and grandbabies surprise me with a visit.
What puts a smile on your face everyday?
My granddaughters! Daily, I learn to have peace through Christ under all circumstances; my family and many friends.
What is your biggest pet peeve?
People who expect others to clean up after them.
Who is your real life hero and why?
Thomas Rooney-my 93 year old father. He is the father of 8; grandfather(Papa) of 9 and great-grandfather(Great Gramps) of 2. Dad is a WWII veteran, enlisting at the age of 17. He was badly injured and received a bronze star and purple heart for his service. During my childhood I saw him do whatever needed to be done to take care of his family. Just recently, he has taken care of my mom during her illness; taken care of my brother’s kids when necessary and is living with my special needs sister. He still tells me to let him know if I need anything.
