Giving Strength for Today and Hope for Tomorrow

God wants to move our church toward greater effectiveness. The "Built to Last" initiative is what God will use to help us grow into an even healthier church.

Now is the Time

This year we mark our 35th anniversary! In honor of this milestone, we launch our 2023 Stewardship campaign.

Johns Creek UMC

God continues to call us to be a thriving, giving, loving and serving church. We look to our future as we bring the light of Christ into our surrounding communities and beyond, including the next generation. They will need JCUMC to be a vibrant church for their children.

Our Future Is Bright

We empower our traditions to last: be a friendly, welcoming church that reflects the light and love of Christ to all.

Matthew 7:24-25

“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.”

“On Christ the solid rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand”

Built to Last: Giving Strength for Today and Hope for Tomorrow

God has indeed blessed our church—with a vibrant faith community, dedicated servant leaders, meaningful fellowship and so much more. We are the hands and feet of Christ in our own community and beyond.

And yet...we are poised on the edge of being able to do even more, reaching our potential. Now is the time, as we look ahead to fully realizing our true mission of outreach and of making disciples.

This campaign is about strengthening our ability to communicate the gospel to the next generation, to reach those who aren’t yet here who need Jesus in their lives.

As we recognize the amazing foundation we have constructed, we feel the need to build for the future. However, there is a large obstacle in the way: the heavy debt we carry financially from the creation of our beautiful Sanctuary. Our loan balance is approximately $5.1 million dollars, and we spend approximately $630,000 in debt service annually. Carrying this load is simply not sustainable for the long term. If we were to devote $1 million in funds to retiring a portion of our debt, we would achieve something incredibly beneficial.

To further support this commitment to retiring debt and enabling growth for our ministries, we are also refinancing our loan with the Georgia United Methodist Foundation. This will save JCUMC approximately $200,000 annually. The forward momentum this additional exercise gives us will be significant. If we combine this savings with retiring a total of $1 million of our debt through this year’s unified budget (“One Fund”) stewardship drive, imagine how that will free us as a church to pursue the work God has asked us to do!

Imagine how we might expand our ministries and improve our technological capabilities to further embrace those who worship online. Picture, for a minute, how fully investing in our Modern Worship services would make them even more meaningful, drawing in new people as they search for the kind of worship that speaks directly to their hearts. Consider the much-needed repairs and improvements we could make to our campus so we can continue to be a welcoming and safe space for a diversity of programs, classes, rehearsals and performances.

Our target for this annual campaign is $3.5 million. This will fully fund our 2023 ministry budget and retire $1 million of our debt. With your generous support, we can make great strides in securing our church’s future and removing significant limitations on our activities, initiatives, and success.

In the weeks to come, we will be discussing the many joys of planning for our future and securing a legacy for coming generations who will be impacted by JCUMC.

Congratulations on being part of our celebration of 35 years of ministry and our joyful anticipation of 35 more. This is a pivotal moment in our history. Let’s be a church that is Built to Last!
