Sunday, October 3rd

Please help us with our third annual planting of 1000 Daffodil Bulbs! Our Church is sponsoring this event, organized by Johns Creek Beautification in partnership with CanCare Atlanta. Daffodils for Hope will help residents and visitors to Johns Creek associate what will become the city's 'signature flower' with Cancare. Each spring the blooming daffodils, which multiply annually, will bring hope to Cancer survivors for years to come. There will be signage to bring awareness to CanCare, which offers Cancer Support throughout the Atlanta area, including right here at JCUMC! We have 'dedicated space' for the bulbs on a berm, which is located on the northwest part of the church campus parallel to 141. Please send an email to if you and your family (including supervised kids) want to help. Please indicate whether you would prefer to work the 11AM shift (following 9:45 worship) or the 12PM shift (following 11AM worship). Jenni Tolliver will contact you with additional information prior to the planting event.

“A fresh way of thinking about spirituality that grows throughout life.”  Falling Upward “seeks to help readers understand the tasks of the two halves of life.”  “Most of us tend to think of the second half of life as largely about getting old, dealing with health issues, and letting go of life but the whole thesis of this book is exactly the opposite.  What looks like falling down can largely be experienced as “falling upward.”

Giving to Summit Counseling - Caring for our Community

Did you know that 1 in 6 U.S. youth ages 6-17 experience a mental health disorder each year?

Did you know that suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death among people aged 10-34 in the U.S?

These are just a few of the staggering facts about mental illness.  The good news is we can do something to help.

For the next two weeks we are raising funds for Summit Counseling.  These funds will go directly to the Client Assistance Funds at our local schools so that children can receive excellent and affordable counseling during the school day.

What are Client Assistance Funds?  Client Assistance Funds are available for families who make less than a certain amount of household income.  These funds generally account for about half of what each session costs.

You can give in a few different ways:

Write a check to the church and place it in the offering box or mail it to the church.  Please make sure it says “Summit” in the memo line.

Give online through Shelby next and notate “Summit” in the memo line.
