A Prayer for Continued Strength

A Prayer based on Ephesians 6:10-18 from Pastor Lori

Loving and Gracious God,

We need your strength.  We are tired.  We are growing weary.

Help us put on the belt of truth.  There is so much false information out there concerning COVID-19.   Help us discern what is true and helpful from what is false and harmful.  We thank you that you are not threatened by science and medicine.  Continue to inspire doctors and scientists who are working to rid our world of this illness.

Help us wear the breastplate of justice. Remind us that you show deep concern for the vulnerable and marginalized.  Help us do everything we can to protect those who are most vulnerable in our communities.

Help us put on the shoes of peace so that we might offer peace in this time of great chaos.  Your word tells us that feet who bring the message of peace are beautiful.  We want to have beautiful feet!

Help us carry the shield of faith.  Remind us that our faith is in you alone.  Help us remember that you are still God and that you are present with us even in these difficult days.

Help us wear the helmet of salvation.  Remind us of the good news of Jesus Christ.  Remind us that our salvation is both a future hope and a present reality. Help us make your salvation a reality for all we meet.

Help us carry the sword of the Spirit, which is your word.  Keep us firmly rooted in your word.  Remind us of who you are, who we are, and what you are still seeking to do in our midst.

As we wear our masks and our gloves during this pandemic, remind us that we are wearing the armor necessary to fight our common enemy.

Strengthen our bodies, our minds, and our hearts.  We rely on your strength and power.

We pray this in Jesus’ name.
Amen.
