Annual Youth Events
Middle school youth have two off-campus retreats every year. In spring, they spend five days at Epworth by the Sea on St. Simons Island. In fall, they travel to Camp Lee in Anniston, Alabama. Retreat time is spent worshiping, studying, playing games, and having fun together. Middle school students have several opportunities to participate in mission work including a three-day service project that supports local assistance programs in the community.
High school youth are invited to attend two out-of-town trips annually. Every summer a mission group travels by church bus to locations that need hands-on assistance. Students spend the week working on projects that support area recovery efforts. A popular, annual ski trip retreat combines worship, fellowship, and fun on the slopes.
Wesley Walk, Operation Christmas, Great Day of Service, Christmas Toy Drive, Soup & Chili Cook-off, time spent with special needs children at Camp Hollywood, and food drives for the Atlanta Food Bank give students an opportunity to reach out to others in need.
Every Christmas season, JCUMC youth bring to life the story of Jesus’ blessed birth through music, scripture, and performance. The Live Nativity is complete with live animals and hot chocolate. It is an annual event that the entire community enjoys.
Halloween, Christmas, New Year’s Eve, and Super Bowl Sunday always provide opportunities for parties, pizza, and plenty of fun!
